Rough Magic

Hello, World

Why I'm starting a digital garden and a stream blog at the same time.

I’ve started too many blogs. They die the same way: the engine gets polished until the tooling is the hobby and the writing never comes. So this time the deal is different — the engine is done, and the point is to write.

There are two modes here. The blog (this) is a stream: dated posts, finished when published, with an RSS feed. The garden is the opposite: evergreen notes I keep tending, linked densely, never really “done”.

Posts and notes link into each other. This post links into the garden’s welcome note — so that note will show this post under “Linked from”. That cross-link, computed at build time, is the whole idea: writing that accretes instead of scrolling away.

More on the machinery in the Colophon. Now — to actually write.
